CLEAN FOR YOU!
April is usually a joyful month, filled with spring, regrowth, sunshine, and one of the most cheerful holidays of all: Easter. While COVID-19 has certainly put a damper on everyone’s spirits, it doesn’t have to ruin your April. If you follow us on Facebook, you already know that this month, we’re hosting the Soigné Sweep Up Challenge! Every week, we share tips for spring cleaning different areas of your home. When we planned this challenge, we had no idea that everyone in our home state of Tennessee would be under a stay-at-home order – but we hope it’s providing you with a little inspiration each week.
In this post, we wanted to chat about ways to motivate yourself to clean house – even when you’re not feeling that great mentally or emotionally.
- Focus on the result. Just like with an exercise regimen, it may be difficult to start cleaning — but you know the result of cleaning will be worth it. Think of it as a gift to your future self. Whether it’s folding the laundry, vacuuming the whole house, or mopping the floors, the work you put in now will yield a sense of accomplishment and a cleaner home for you and your family later.
- Break it down. This is one of our favorite tips and you’ll see it a lot. It’s like the old question: “How do you eat an elephant?” And the answer is, of course, “One bite at a time.” A messy, cluttered house is an elephant, but the only way you’re going to clean the house is by cleaning one section at a time. Pick a place to start, set a schedule or a goal, and get it done!
- Get help. Depending on where you’re located, having friends or extended family over probably isn’t a good idea right now. But what about the family you’re quarantined with? Ask your spouse, kids or siblings to join in. And if you’re self-isolating by yourself, don’t be afraid to message friends for advice, watch cleaning tutorials on YouTube, or contact us for a little remote consulting! We offer virtual decluttering and cleaning advice services via Zoom, so we can coach you and cheer you on any time you need a little extra encouragement. Just contact us today and we can help you! (And did we mention we’ve also got a Youtube channel now? Join Beth & Meg for some great discussions about decluttering, cleaning and more!)
Keep following us on Facebook and Instagram. If you’re participating in the Soigne Sweep Up Challenge, we’d love to hear from you and see your progress! And most importantly, hang in there and stay home. Happy Easter and happy April!
